Concussion - also known as a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), it is often defined as a head injury that temporarily affects brain functioning, however some effects and symptoms can last a very long time. Common causes include falls, accidents and sports injuries and repeated concussions are considered a risk factor in other brain conditions in later life (such as Parkinson’s disease or depression).
