Keyword: compulsion

Compulsion - compulsive disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder and addictions, are complex mental illnesses which can impact the sufferer’s mood, anxiety, motor control and cognitive abilities. They feature compulsive behaviours that the sufferer often feels unable to avoid or control and that can be detrimental to health and well-being. Functional imaging has shown abnormal activity in certain regions of the brain while symptoms are present but there is still very much to understand.
