Keyword: neurodevelopment

Neurodevelopment - neurodevelopmental disorders impact the growth and development of the brain, as can head injuries and concussion by interrupting normal development. Disorders are usually detected early in a child’s life, although causes can sometimes be traced to prenatal events and influences. Disruption to normal neurodevelopment can impact a broad range of faculties – memory, emotions, attention, behaviour, learning, self-control and socialization – and will often persist throughout the lifetime. As we work to understand more about how certain influences can combine to significantly impact brain development, we are also exploring how we can harness the brain’s own plasticity for intervention or even prevention.
